German Museum of Film and Photo Technology

An exciting place, not just for technology aficionados!

With more than 300 square meters of exhibition area, the German Museum of Film and Photo Technology displays a collection of over 3,000 exhibits. It houses one of the most extensive collections of film, photo and TV-related items.

Immerse yourself in the history of filmmaking and photography in the historic rooms and vaults of the “Bürgerhospital” Foundation and see if any of your own memories of the numerous devices come back to you. Here, it is not unusual to hear visitors say things like, “that’s my good old Leica,” or “look, that was my first Bauer 8 mm.”

The exhibited masterpieces of optics, precision mechanics and electronics offer insight into the skills necessary to capture something on film or photograph.
