A walk through the orchards of Meckenheim

The village
The gateway to the Mittelhaardt is characterized by beautiful half-timbered houses as well as farming and winegrowing estates from the 16th to 18th centuries. The village is surrounded by orchards, fields and vineyards. In spring, when the trees are flowering, a stroll through the orchards is a particularly wonderful experience.

The Baroque Catholic St. Aegidius Parish Church in Meckenheim is well worth a visit. It was erected in the 18th century. The sanctuary and nave are flat-roofed and the furnishings are from the Capuchin Church of Mannheim. The left-hand altar from around 1700 is particularly noteworthy.
