Scheurebe

The Scheurebe is another breed that has caught on in many German winegrowing areas. Scheurebe is grown on 4 % of the winegrowing areas in the Palatinate. The grape is a cross breed of Silvaner x Riesling, which was created by the Landesanstalt für Rebenzüchtung Alzey. The grape’s name derives from the breeder Georg Scheu. Good Scheurebe wines feature a fiery acidity, and a rich, strong bouquet with a note of blackcurrant.
