Blue Portuguese
The name of this grape variety derives from the original supposition that it is native to Portugal. The Palatinate grows the biggest share of Portuguese wines in Germany (11% of the total cultivation area). Usually, the wines are predominantly grown as quality wines without special attributes and usually have a light red color.
There are also cellar masters who use modern techniques to produce darker wines so that they are also suitable for game dishes. Most of the annual production is sold as Portuguese Rosé.
