Award for the Kirchenberg Biotope
The wine community of Forst and the Deidesheim Museum of Wine Culture have emerged as winners of the German Wine Route Competition.
In the main competition, the wine community of Forst was awarded a prize for the positive general impression of the village, its charming appearance, the preservation of the historical buildings and the harmonic integration of the village into its surroundings. These were the jury’s deciding factors in presenting the prize to Forst.
The Museum of Wine Culture was awarded the “Special Prize of the Pollichia e.V.” in the special competition “Village and Landscape Ecology 2003.” The Struktur- and Genehmigungsdirektion Süd and the German Wine Route Working Group stated that the prize was the “visible recognition of the very successful effort to preserve and cultivate the winegrowing area ‘Am Kirchenberg’ as well as the habitats of rare animals and plants. Typical elements such as walls, stairs, watering facilities and much more have been repaired and added in a traditional, sloped vineyard area.”
