A stroll through Niederkirchen

The village
Niederkirchen is the ‘mother’ of Deidesheim and was formerly called “Nieder-Deidesheim”. The village is characterized by old and new winegrowing estates and romantic corners, narrow roads and alleys. Numerous wineries and restaurants invite visitors to stay for a delightful meal.

Church
The Catholic St. Martin Parish Church of Niederkirchen is one of the oldest Christian architectural monuments in the Palatinate. The building is very important as it was built at the same time and in the same style as other Palatinate churches from the High Middle Ages such as Speyer Cathedral and the Limburg Monastery Church. It can be easily identified by its impressive 11th century spire.
